RICHARD L. GRIMSTEAD
EMPLOYMENT HISTORY:
R. L. Grimstead, Architect (1974 — Present). Owner/Architect of his own architectural firm in the City of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Mr. Grimstead has been in charge of designing more than two thousand buildings that have been constructed in the states of Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Maryland. Mr. Grimstead's projects have ranged in size form small residential additions to multi-million dollar commercial structures. Mr. Grimstead's responsibilities include initial client contact, coordination of design disciplines, and construction administration. Mr. Grimstead has also been involved in the development of the fourteen-story Four Sails Resort complex in Virginia Beach. He has been an expert witness in numerous court cases and served as mediator in several insurance disputes. Mr. Grimstead is the administrator of his firm's operation and is in charge of all business transactions.
Williams & Tazewell, Architects (1973 — 1974). Architectural senior job captain in charge of production of construction documents for various projects including multi-family housing, commercial buildings and institutional structures. While employed at Williams & Tazewell, Mr. Grimstead was involved in the design of the Medical Library and the expansion of Scott Stadium at the University of Virginia.
MMM Design Group (1967 — 1970 & 1972 - 1973). Architectural draftsman and job captain with duties that included production of construction drawings and involving highly technical design and strict review by both military and civilian authorities.
Clemson University (1970 — 1971). Served as University Designer while completing requirements for Bachelor of Architecture degree. Duties included review of proposed campus buildings, preparing working drawings for construction of several campus structures including the construction of the Tennis Pavilion and the layout of the Athletic Office and Athletic Training Facility.
J. Harold Mack & Associates (1966 — 1967). Served as architectural draftsman and chief model builder. Involved in the design of several commercial and religious buildings. Worked on research for forming a program for a new regional hospital for Greenville, South Carolina.
